Scruff with the smooth: Mr Scruff at The Magnet

The legendary tea-loving DJ and musician hits Chibuku this weekend for a very special 5 hour set. Plus: win tickets!

For the last February show before the big birthday double whammy (no, we can’t wait for it either) Chibuku are welcoming back a very old friend - one of the first guest they ever booked all those years ago. Worryingly, we can remember that gig quite clearly which suggests that a) we’re getting pretty old now and b) we obviously hadn’t been drinking very heavily on that occasion.

Mr Scruff, aka Andy Carthy, is a man who’s as famed for his love of music as he is for his love of tea. He’s released three critically acclaimed albums, including 1999′s monstrous ‘Keep It Unreal’, recorded for over 25 labels and his parties have been deemed legendary - not because of any wild debauchery, but because he just creates a friendly happy atmosphere in which to listen to really really great music.

The Magnet will be turned into the perfect ‘Keep It Unreal’ location with projectors, screens, Scruff’s own equipment, his merchandise stall and a fine tuning of the PA system till it’s ‘just so’. There’s no warm up act in residence either. All night long means just that, from the first to the “one more” track – this is going to be very special indeed.
